For over 30 years Algeria has hosted refugees from Western Sahara

For over 30 years Algeria has hosted refugees from Western Sahara, one of the world’s most prolonged refugee crises. The Sahrawi refugees live in five camps near the town of Tindouf in Western Algeria. Between extreme heat and very low rainfall and isolated desert environment it limits livelihood and economic opportunities. As a result it leaves the refugees highly dependent on humanitarian assistance.

58% of Algerians are at risk of food insecurity

30 percent of Sahrawi refugees are food insecure and 58 percent are at risk of food insecurity. The situation continues to worsen and western Algeria rely mainly on humanitarian aid to meet their food and subsistence needs. The UN has warned the North African country that the Sahrawi refugees may be at risk of further food insecurity and malnutrition.

You Can Be Apart Of The Solution

However, you can be a part of the solution. Muslims Giving Back is on the ground working with local partners to help end the hunger and water crisis. For only $12 you can provide clean drinking water to those in need for over a decade and for just $55 you can provide enough food for a family of 5 for a month.
