$15 - Fidiya Per Missed Fast
Fidya & Kaffarah
What is Fidya?
Fidya is an obligatory donation that must be paid if you missed your fast due to a valid reason. Those reasons can be varied from old age, sickness, and other conditions that do not allow you to fast.
Fidya is $15 per missed fast, which goes toward feeding a needy person two meals a day.
What is Kaffarah?
Kaffarah is an obligatory donation that must be paid if you missed your fast without a valid reason. It also applies to fasts that have been broken, meaning if a person deliberately breaks their fast, they are required to fast for 60 days per missed fast continuously.
If they cannot, they must feed 60 poor people for every fast missed, at a rate of $15 per person—a total of $900.
